Light Up the Grill this Father's Day! 👨‍🍳

June 16, 2021

Happy Father’s Day to all the important men in our lives!  Father’s Day falls just before the official first day of summer, so get your BBQs out and ready.  One of my favourite things to BBQ right now is fruit.  I love the change in flavour and texture the heat and grill marks provide.  Below I’ve provided some of my favourite grilled fruit recipes.  All three recipes pair well with some Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream served on the side.  Happy grilling!

Our in house Greek Yogurt Parfait with Berries & Vanilla Greek Yogurt Parfait with Berries are also a perfect pick!

Grilled Watermelon

  • 1 watermelon, sliced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 limes, zest and juice
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  1. Heat the grill to high.
  2. In a bowl combine the sugar, lime zest and red pepper flakes.
  3. Sprinkle both sides of the watermelon slices with the mixture.
  4. Grill the watermelon for 2-3 minutes per side and sprinkle with lime juice before serving.
  5. Enjoy!

Grilled Pineapple

  • 1 pineapple, cut into spears
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  1. Heat the grill to high.
  2. In a bowl whisk together the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Spread on top of the pineapple.
  4. Grill for 5-7 minutes, until the pineapple is golden brown.
  5. Add any excess sauce from the pan on top of the pineapple before serving.
  6. Enjoy!

Grilled Peaches

  • 6 peaches, halved
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • ½ cup honey
  1. Heat the grill to high.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar and honey. Remove ⅓ cup mixture and set aside.
  3. Bring to a boil and cook until the mixture begins to thicken, about 4-6 minutes. Remove from heat.
  4. Brush the peaches with the reserved balsamic mixture.
  5. Grill for 6-8 minutes on each side, occasionally brushing the peaches with some remaining balsamic mixture.
  6. Serve with glaze and enjoy!
