5 Fun Ways to Kick Off Summer!

5 Fun Ways to Kick Off Summer!

June 24, 2021

It’s finally summer time and like all Canadians, we need to optimize the good weather! With Ontario slowly re-opening we are cautious but eager to get outside, and spend some quality family time in the sun.

I have put together a list of 5 of my favourite activities to do while soaking up some vitamin D and they can all be modified to take place right in your own backyard or home. While you’re at it check out Wholesome GO’s NEW Summer collection! It’s perfect for a family picnic, to bring on your family trips or for a simple cozy night in!

1. Spend a day at the Toronto Islands
Take the ferry out to Toronto Islands and enjoy the day! Pack up a lunch and snacks have a lovely picnic at the beach or take a bike ride along around the island. Toronto Islands have so many activities to keep your kiddos going all day long. It’s the perfect place to create some amazing memories!

2. Take a hike down to Smokey Hollow
Get a bit more active this summer and take a hike at Smokey Hollows with amazing views and a wonderful waterfall to see along the way. This hike is moderate and adjustable – perfect to do with kids of all ages.

3. Cool off at a water park
With some hot days headed our way it might be the perfect time to hit up a local waterpark to cool off. Splishing and splashing are part of the core elements of being a kid so your little ones are sure to love it! Don’t feel like going out? Break out the hose or sprinklers in your backyard and make your own.

4. Go camping
If you’re in the mood for a weekend of family bonding, camping is the way to go. Ontario has several beautiful parks to go camping and there is always plenty to do. This is a great activity if you need to get away from the city and unplug for a little while. And if you don’t want to go too far but still want the experience, who says you can’t pitch a tent in your own backyard.

5. Pick your fruit – literally
Ontario summers are the best for picking fruit. Whether your favourite is peaches, plums, strawberries, or raspberries Ontario has them all. Head out to a local farm and pick your own fruit. It’s a great family activity and there’s a delicious treat at the end!

However you spend this summer I’m sure it will be a great and I hope that amazing memories and touching family moments are created along the way. Stay healthy and remember to enjoy every day – those amazing moments can spark at any time!
